What to charge for a homemade model sailboat?

Monday, August 31st, 2009
Ursus asked:

I made a model sailboat at a summer camp about 20 years ago and want to get rid of it now. I’m moving soon and want to start downsizing on “stuff.”

Anyway, it’s in good shape, about 20″ high, all the pieces still function, it has a stand for display, but also still “sails” on water, etc. I know it’s hard to determine without seeing a picture, but I figure I’d ask here anyways…

Anybody have an idea if it’s worth anything? Regards.

Sailing Boat Basics

Friday, June 5th, 2009

We met up with two members of the club, support boat specialist Mike George (he did the water shots for Baywatch for 13 years!), and Pease Glaser, a former sailor for the US team. Leah finds out about the different components of a sail boat, how to raise a sail, and even how …

How did raising/lowering sails and other sail adjustments work on old sailing ships?

Thursday, May 8th, 2008
Laura asked:

Working on a bit of writing and need to have at least a basic understanding of how the crew would lower/raise and do other adjustments to the sails of ships. The older type of ship the better. If you know and can type it in, that’s cool, but if you can just point me to some websites, that’d be cool too.
