What is the best GPS to use for road travel and boating?

country chick asked:

I mainly need a GPS for road travel and also to remember the boating route from the boat dock as a starting point. I want to be able to use the GPS to get back to the boat dock after a day of riding the boat on the lake.

There are a few I would suggest. Take a look at the Garmin Oregon, Colorado and GPSMAP series. I personally like the Oregon GPS units the best but they are also the most expensive. All are handheld. Some float and some don’t so you’ll want to check out which ones do.

I suggestion Garmin Colorado 400t Handheld GPS, you can customize your Colorado with five different user profiles: automotive, marine, recreation, fitness or geocache.

Garmin Colorado 400t is rugged with a high-sensitivity receiver to offers innovative features such as a new Rock ‘n Roller wheel for one hand operation as well as the ability to exchange waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches wirelessly between units.
